Creating a Culture of Consent

What is the Ask first project?

The Ask First Project is a project dedicated to creating a culture of consent on campus.  The Consent Awareness and Sexual Education is working in collaboration with the University of Calgary and The Women's Resource Centre over the course of three years to accomplish our goals. The Project was launched in 2015 by the Women's Resource Centre and the University of Calgary, with the funding of the Student's Union Quality Money Initiative.

Our Goals

Ending victim blaming

The Ask First Project is working to create a culture were victim blaming is no longer tolerated. We are doing this by creating a space where consent is understood and practiced by all students.

Empowering Students

We aim to empower students to create change in their own communities, in order to challenge and end negative stereotypes and myths surrounding sexual assault.

Facilitating Collaboration

We are working to facilitate collaboration between on-campus groups and administration in order to ensure no gaps in sexual assault prevention and support services.
